Our History
The Family Literacy Project was launched in the year 2000 by Snoeks Desmond.
Research had shown her that families living in rural areas had very little opportunity to develop and extend their literacy skills.
Older Parents and carers typically had very little schooling and, in many cases, had lost their basic literacy skills through lack of use.
The Family Literacy Project was set up in response to their desperate need; to empower these carers in a changing world and equip them to help their young to love reading and writing.
