Snoeks Desmond, FLP’s founding director, bade farewell to the team and group members in Underberg in December 2007. She encouraged us to continue the strong tradition of ‘respect for all’ that is a central FLP value – respect for the funding community, for those employed by the project, the group members and the parents and children in the communities in which we work. Snoeks has pioneered family literacy in South Africa, as a way to develop early learning, literacy and a love of books, and has built a strong and stable foundation on which we in FLP can continue this work. Snoeks is now consulting in the ECD sector, and remains a member of FLP’s board. Lynn Stefano, previously the Project Development Manager, is the new director.
