The Family Literacy Project is an NPO, registered with CIPC and SARS. Our board of directors and advisory committee meet once a quarter.

FLP’s current team members are:
Director: Pierre Horn (joined 2003-2006, and August 2013).

Learning and Professional Development Manager: Jill Frow. (Jill worked as a consultant to FLP from 2001 – 2011, and now works part-time).

Research and Training: Jacqueline Horn (August 2013).

Co-ordinators: Florence Molefe (hc-IMCI), Zimbili Dlamini (ECD and CWP) and Phumzile Zikode (Literacy and Libraries) joined FLP in 2000 soon after the project started. Xolani Moefokeng (Youth) joined Vukuzakhe Projects in 2007, and Nompumelelo Nyati (Adult education and Foundation Phase teacher) joined Vukuzakhe Projects in 2004.

Financial Administrator: Robin Marshall (joined 2013)

Facilitators: Joyce Ndlovu (joined 2005), Tholakele Mkhize (joined 2006), Zenzile Shelembe (joined 2008), Nomvula Phoswa, Thobile Dlamini and Faith Kumalo joined in 2010, Zinhle Mbanjwa (joined 2011), Noncedo Sondezi (2008), and Khalipha Khumalo (2008).

Library Assistants: Renneth Molefe joined in 2004. Zibuyile Sosibo, Nomusa Khanyile and Bonisiwe Ndzimande joined in 2010.

Consultants: Chris Gibson (Child health specialist).

From late 2000 the staff has included Snoeks Desmond (Director from 2000-2007) and facilitators Fiselani Linda and Nelly Shezi. Two Peace Corps (USA) volunteers, Leanne Wolff and Safi Ahmed, joined us in October 2005 for two years. Others who have been part of the team at times from 2000 are Thoko Dlamini, S’bongile Madiba, Nonzuzo Mbanjwa, Nomusa Ndlovu, Ceboh Mtolo, Zama Mncwabe, Nathi Khanyile, Xolly Mtolo, Thuli Ngcobo and Xoli Bhunge. Lynn Stefano joined in 2006 as Project Development Manager and as Director from 2008 – 2013.

Dr Snoeks Desmond gained her D Tech and Masters degrees in Family Literacy, based on research in FLP.
